Mindfuness techniques are used by the world's most successful athletes, business owners and musicians who are under pressure to perform. Our Mindfulness programme encourages children to take increasing responsibility for keeping their mind and body safe and healthy. It helps them to feel positive about themselves and be sensitive towards the feelings of others. It can help them understand and accept the range of their own, and others feelings and emotions. The programme provides opportunities to experience and respond to quiet and still times, closing their eyes and listening or feeling. It can be used to help them develop self-awareness, self-knowledge and confidence, relating to others and working with them. 

The objectives of this programme:

  • For children to improve attention and focus skills - isolating focus to just one thing
  • To improve self-regulation 
  • To learn to deal with tough emotions and avoid impulse reactions
  • To increase compassion
  • For children to improve life skills such as conflict-resolution skills
  • To promote a Growth Mindset

We find that mindfulness encourages a shift in children's mentality from INCIDENT > REACTION > REACTION to INCIDENT > MINDFULNESS > RESPONSE which can be rolled out across school during other lessons and also at break and lunch times. Some of our schools even have Mindfulness Ambassadors or Mindfulness Monitors that promote the above mindset and improve behaviour without teachers help!

Rather than setting aside 5 or 10 minutes during a morning to practice mindfulness with children - something that can often be forgotten or missed, our mindfulness experts come into school every week and spend 30 mins- 1 hour with each class, provdiing the consistency and routine that children need and can rely on.

With so much talk in the press over the past weeks, it only seems apt to publish something around Mental Health. National Mental Health Week was this week, and we are now seeing more and more people being open and honest about their mental health. Many schools are now offering sessions to not only pupils to channel their thoughts and feelings but staff too. We at Primary PPA Cover pride ourselves on being at the fore-front of research and development and our Yoga and Mindfulness sessions prove this. They not only work on core strength but inner strength and how to deal with different situations. This is being bought into our Head Office too with staff getting involved and utilising our Mental Health Coach, Rachel.
